View Full Version : getting away with speeding
after reading the pepipoo site its all still a bit confusing but i get the impression that after 6 months the penalty charge is dropped.
there are various ways of delaying your response such as sending an unsigned NIP, asking for photographic evidence etc.
iv only got 5 weeks left until i reach the 6 month mark so am considering doing this.
has anyone gone about things this way?

6 months?? i thought it was 4 weeks. :)
they have 14 days to notify you with the NIP and 6 months to prosecute, i think. well its been nearly 5 months for me so far so only another month to go :)
Move house!!! Great excuse for not getting the NIP ;)

Why am I not surprised that you suggested that?!
The court has no expectation that you should know who was driving your car more than a month ago. If they came here just now and said my car was speeding at ,,,,, on xxth of January I could claim I did not remember who was driving at that time. If it is within a month I am expected to know who and when my car was being driven. Not sure if your employer would say this as they probably have records of who drove what, where etc
It is worth you approaching a solicitor, that in itself will take you past the six months
Go on Holiday dude for 5 weeks. :D You get a tan and hammered, plus when you come back it will all be over. Just burn the mail and say what letters? iv been away on holiday.
Problem Sorted.
IIRC You were driving a company car?... If so, then the 14 days doesn't apply, they get longer to get the NIP to the driver, I don't know what the limit is for that, but you may be out of luck...
as far as i know the firm recieved the nip within 14 days, so that kinda fucks me up there

I recieved a NIP about june time last year, they had mis-spelt my name on it by one letter. So i sent it back stating that I didnt know who this person was. Sure enough about a month later I recieved another NIP again with my name mis-spelt by one letter. So again I sent it back saying that I didnt know who this person was. Since then I have heard nothing more from them, so im assuming that ive got away with it as its been well over six months since the alleged speeding incident
Change your name it is then :rlol:
