maybe a stupid question but can any parts from the MKIII be used on the MKIV i see alot of MKIII's knocking around in salvage yards that could provide cheap repair alternatives. For example if you had a auto could you take the manual transmisson of the mkiii and fit it to your mkiv???

You could, but....

The MkIII N/A uses a W58 'box like the MkIV N/A with a different bellhousing, and if you found a MkIV bellhousing it would probably have a gearbox attached.

The MkIII turbo uses the stronger R154 'box, but you'd need a 1JZ-GTE bellhousing from Mr T in order to bolt it to a 2JZ.
