Today I had a guy come round to my house and refurb my wheels. They were not in terrible nick but I knew they weren't "tip top" so I had a ring around.

The guy from Ace Alloys (Bury) has refurbed my Ace Alloys!!:D

All in all after paying £40 per wheel and £40 for the centre caps I am more than happy with the results. More importantly it has not interupted my working day and I have not missed anything off the forum!!:)

Pics here!! Didn't do any before ones! Sorry!

hey do u have a contact no. for the bloke & does he travel to any where in the uk?

cheers.

I am not sure how far he'll travel tbh. He was very good though! I'd have a look in the yellow pages or yell.com. Some of the places I spoke to were quite dear and they didin't come to you either.

Let me know if you want me to PM you his number!!

Have you got some before pics mate?

And contact details!!! :)

The guy is called John and the company is Ace Alloys - 07964 448230. Nice guy too! I didn't get any pics tbh. they were lightly scuffed all the way round to begin with though. Nothing major but untidy!!

cool, i had that sorta thing done on my last car.

aint it weird seeing ya car up on them 2 big jacks! sort of looks like the sand speeder thing in Star Wars!!!

It was weird defo! Has had real trouble getting underneath mine with the jacks and I didn't think it was that low compared to some on here. He eventually started at the back and put it in axle stands and then jacked up the front.

Did they have any kerb damage and, of so, how did he repair it?

There was light kerb damage on 3 of the wheels and a slightly larger mark on one of the rears. Tbh, I don't know what he has done, he said he doesn't like using filler and I heard a lot of grinding and sanding althought the rims don't seem any thinner. I have just left a message to get his description!!

Looking good! Can he sort out kerb damage etc?

Sorry Rob missed you out of my last reply. Yes, he is very good at sorting light kerb damage. I don't know at what point he'll say it can't be fixed but he was very professional and kept me up to date with the progress and checked I was happy etc.

Update!

John rang me back this morning. He says that mine were not that badly damaged so he used a light grinder to take away all the rough edges and give the lip a rounded finish.

If the mark is too deep and he feels it would compromise the strength of the wheel or lip, he'll use a stuff called liquid alloy??

He said that only one of my wheels needed a little bit of liquid alloy but not much. He won't use filler as it just comes back off enentually.

He gives the wheels 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of laquer. He also also offered to come to the Mascrat manor meet and have a chat to a few of the guys if there was a need.

They look smart! No matter how good condition a car is it never looks excellent until the wheels are sorted!! :)

I know it's sad but I keep going outside and looking at them!

I think the wheels make a car.;)

Your car looks great Harvard, how long start to finish for your alloy refurbs?

John took about 6 hours from start to finish, he went straight through without a break. He's told me not to wash them for a week.
