Discuss the entries that have been made, ask questions or make suggestions here.
DO NOT POST PICTURES IN THIS THREAD. It is for discussions only.
- No one car can appear more than once in the calendar (with the exception of the group category i.e if a car wins a section itself it may also feature in a winning group shot with other cars)

if a group shot is submitted, does that mean that no cars in that group shot can be in a single shot? Might mean a lot of upset people if they happen to be in a group shot posted by someone else

I was thinking that too, strange but I think it means once for entire competition, just like it reads!
It's a shame as I was hoping to try and enter most categories. Not meaning to win in them all but to give choice. This way we are limited.
The front cover shot why does that have to be in Landscape? :( Surely it would be better in portrait or am I missing something. :D
I can see why Rosie is saying one entry per car, as people tend to enter tons of pictures otherwise, so cutting them down to a shortlist to vote on must take ages. Also then one person has to make that decision, and since the votes are independant the same car can win several categories and then you end up with the 2nd most popular winning. This way you just need to pick your best photo yourself instead of entering loads.
Simon spot on... in the past people just enter loads because they think they have more chance of winning but as there is a limit of 20 per category thats not really fair...

yes but what happens if you DID win every category? Then it would be back to me again to choose which cars go in each month, and I'm not choosing anything this year, fed up with all the wigging.

I understand the reason why you wouldn't want one car across multiple categories, but why can't we submit multiple photos in ONE category? And you choose, obviously, the best one

I wouuld like that, too. I'm struggling to stick the the decision I've made in the landscape entry bit as i've got 2 similar pics and I seem to keep preferring one over the other, than changing my mind, then changing my mind, then....

Firstly, I'm no shit-hot photographer. However, I do know what I like and, more importantly, what I'm going to like looking at for a whole month.
Second, there isn't anything to badly wrong with your pic except for the huge expanse of floor. Now, I'm not saying all the pics should have Supras filling the image but if the subject is going to be viewed from afar at least the rest of the pic should be interesting.

Just kidding Rosie, and sorry you have indeed said the reasons why (and I had actually read them, so will double-apologise for my mini-whinge/questioning! :)). I appreciate that stuff like this is a MAJOR headache and will put up with my minor (to be fair, VERY minor) inconvienence warm in the knowledge that it's keeping hair on your head. ;)

Hmmm shame about the composition, oh and the red speck in the middle :p My eye tends to look on the building more than anything... everyone has there own opinions just like mine. I think Rosie has a real hard job on her hands just sifting through the photos already. :d

Surely if i added 3 pictures, none of my car, just pictures i took, why can i only enter one? surely it is better for people to add as many as they can for choice & varity? then all vote on the pictures what have been added?
I don't know what your car looks like so I have no idea who's car they are of, therefore it appears that you are entering more than 1 of the same car but if thats not the case then fine, leave them there.

I have updated the rules to cover some of the issues that have arisen including Jakes point, thanks for that.

I belive that the white car was sub-culture.. he sold it! don't think he's a paid up member at the moment..
I have a suggestion to make sure that we don't get loads of photos entered that block other really good ones from being entered later on (since there's a limit on the number) and also to make sure great photos that lose out in one category can be entered for another without the same car winning twice.
How about having an elimination poll when a certain number of photos have been entered (10 say). That could eliminate the bottom 9 which could then be entered in another category if people want. You would end up with one pic left, plus any new ones that people enter afterwards. If we got to 10 again you could have another elimination poll. It would mean you didn't have a whole mass of pics to choose from at the end.

Simon, taken on board. I will see how it goes, we may never get to the max amount so it might make no difference either. Could also get very confusing, seeing as people are seriously struggling with the rules as they are that would make it even more taxing especially if pne car gets knocked out then people could in theory enter that car again but might not see the thread etc blah.
I've cleaned down the threads, please just put the entries in those threads, if you need to ask anything post here or pm me PLEASE
Have added Calendar 2008 to thread titles so you can search for them if you need to.
How about a thread for discussions about entries? As ive got a couple of pictures that I like, but others dont, so would like to get members views on the pics before submitting my final entry. :)

Right - I posted the following two pics in the Scenic Views thread, but I guess I shouldn't have done as I should only be putting my one entry pic in there.
Is it ok for me to post them here for a couple of days to canvass opinions about which is better? I can't decide if I like the colour or the B/W.
Also, would it be best in Scenic Views/Arty/Supra Portraits?

Hi guys, Iv just put a pic in the portrait section but how do I tell if my original pic is of a high enough quality? It was taken with a 3mega pixel camera, is there anyway to enhance the quality if its not good enough? Obviously if it is no good I will remove the pic asap. Thanks.
Leave it up there, if it wins I will get the original, if it turns out it's not good enough the picture in 2nd place will get it anyway.

Ms Supragal. Got the 2007 calendar today, my reasons, immediately thought I'd like the car owner ID on the pictures. Can or can't do for 2008?

I used to print calenders when I was in commercial trade printing (now in newspapers) and never started printing calenders until September.

People wanted them ready for JAE in July, (obviously that didn't happen this year sorry)
I am not printing them. It takes a good month from starting the picture hunt to decide on the finalists, then I have to set up votes etc and wait for result, then I have to contact all the winners and ask for high res versions (still don't have 2 of them!!) then I have to produce the calendar, so date and bank hol changes, colour schemes, setting the pics & layout, then send it off for proof, approve or reject the proof [repeat] then tell them to print, then wait for delivery.
So without knowing the background I can see where you're coming from. :)
And I haven't even sent them for proof yet, and we're in September... I need a big time window!!
