What have you got to hide?:D

It's like a tiger hiding in the bushes before he pounces :D But only if he can exploit the situation.

Exactly, It bugs the feck out of me and it does seem as if people have someting to hide.:search:

I'm pleased you posted this Jamie as I was thinking that certain members were simply sneeking on to the forum for a quick post and then signing off 2 seconds later.

Im bored, its raining and all my work is outside:D

Just out of curiousity, why does it bother you?

And out of curiosity Doug but why do people do it. After all, someone has purposely gone out of their way to disconnect the facility.

I can understand it in cases of covert moderator special operations tasks though

just so I can stealth it around the forums and chip in when needed

Why do people hide there online status??
Cos they're all bastards!

There are a couple of reasons actually.

This PC is usually on 24/7. My home page is http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/search.php?do=getnew
but I'm not the only user of this PC. So it would show me as on here even when I'm not (even though I usually am :))

Also, some people seem to be allergic to waiting for a reply to their question or starting new threads of their own, and if they see you on-line will PM something that would be better asked in a thread.

It's an option, some people use it others don't. But the mods can see who is online anyway. Some people like to surf the forums but do so privately. Others do it because they used to get bombarded with pm's all the time. I didn't even realise it was an option for about a year!

The same could be said as to why it's an option on msn.

Because its well cool to lurk in the shadows when people think you're not watching :sly:

And that would be a problem for you because....?

I have my reasons for phantom mode, but i aint discussing them on here :)

CJ

I use the hidden mode for similar reasons to Jake. I am always online but not always in front of the machine. I dont wish to appear rude or as if I am ignoring folks so I feel it works better for me this way.

I really struggle to see why anyone else would be annoyed by it though

It does seem an odd thing to get annoyed about.

I get annoyed by these forum things, I wonder if anyone else does?:

People saying "see page 3" when the thread is only one page long for some of us. Not everyone uses the default 10 posts per page.

People saying "post" when they mean "thread" and vice versa

Peoples not quoting when replying to a post other than the one directly before theirs. It makes it impossible to understand wtf they're on about sometimes.

People asking a thread to be locked because it's boring.

People replying to a thread and just saying "subscribed" or

and finally, JamesMark's ongoing quest to post the world's oldest joke.

Yes I know I'm a miserable old git, thank you.

Do you mean Jake or Jamie? I ask as due to the fact you didnt use the quote function it was impossible to see what you were referring to :p :d

And anyway I don't like talking directly to Jake, he always refers to me in 3rd person in the football thread.

Do I? I wasn't aware that referred to Charlotte like that. I will endeavour to make the thread more personal towards her in future.

If I have asked Jake something direct it is polite. :p

I have mine has hidden. The hidden option is similar to a fart. Some people prefer the "blitzkrieg" effect. Others prefer the "steathly but deadly" effect.

Out of interest, this seems a strange question to ask. What prompted it ?

Because we wanted to know when YOU were logged on so WE could log off. Sort of like a .net game of hide and seek :D
