View Full Version : Genuine UK Workshop Manual
Hi Guys
I am currently awaiting delivery of my genuine UK toyota manual, in paper format (from toyota)
I may take the whole thing to a copy centre and get copies made up if enough people are interested. Its a lot better than the .pdf manuals you can get off the net.
I believe the UK manual will be valid for all models, dur to the spec being greater on the UK cars, the only thing that may be different is some meter readings of electronic components due to differences in size/spec.
If anyone is interested, let me know.
ooooo, that sounds illegal, couldnt get involved with that.
how much? :)
ps. dont let thorin see it, he'll av ya. :)
Ill be in, i have U.S. manuals but count me in anyway
The UK manual is very unlikely to cover NA cars.
Yes but id take one anyway a few parts are the same and its always handy to see how the other half live,.
Chris, I don't suppose you have the Toyota reference numbers for the UK manuals handy do you? I was planning to buy paper copies myself soon but I know from my experience of ordering the MR2 ones that my local parts chaps won't make it easy!
Are there a few manuals, body and engine for example, or is it all covered in one for the UK spec?
Michael,
There are two manuals, which cover the engine alone and then the rest of the car.
I have not idea of part numbers yet as I haven't got em but I'll let you know if you require them mate, the only thing is they are rare as rocking horse shit and the guy I dealt with from parts said he was lucky to source one, so best of luck and i'll PM you when I know what they are.
As for price, I'll whack them in a copy shop when I get them then I'll let you know from there, but I'd say less than half price and readily available. (i paid 150 quid for originals)
Chris,
That would be GREAT if you could get a full copy of both manuals! I would love them and would cover all the copy costs
Might even buy you a pint :p Any idea when you could have this done by? Ive run out of interesting reading material.

I thought they would be hard to source but I'm keen to give it a go, I really fancy the originals so if you do get a chance to pass the numbers on that would be really appreciated. At least then I can take the car to a mechanic I trust and know he has the resources at hand if he needs them as well as being able to do some of the jobs myself :)
Chris,
No problem mate, i'll get you a set done when I get em.
Michael,
As soon as I know the part numbers i'll send you them.
I'm interested, what sort of price are we talking?

If you scroll up you may get some idea, I have to find out from the printers before I commit to a price but it will be much less than Toyota want and it'll be exactly the same document in the exact same format as I get it.

Try "The art of war" by sun tzu, i believe there is an ancient scripture in there on why the supra is superior to the z'd:innocent:
can you let me know on cost and time, if it all sounds good then i'm definately in. Will they be loose pages for us to bind ourselves?
I should have the manuals by next week, then the printers time (whatever thats gonna be) and they will be bound and dressed up all smartly, exactly the same as the original.
But a huge saving in your back burner!
Chris when this is done Im gonna add you to my buddy list !! :stupid:
is that a compliment?
Or a threat:looney:
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Take it as a threat :looney: :looney: Joke...
:) You'll be the 1st person with one Chris..
Once I have printed em all up then whover comes to a meet i'm at can have one. Hopefully I might get em for the 19th of this month (check the events board)
Chris

Barney
Common sense has kicked in, I'll go for one of your versions and save some money I think :) Put me down as 100% interested.

Can you add me to the list of definates, I have wanted one of these babies for a while!
Thanks
Hi
Can you add me to the list for a copy as well. I find out more I don't know about this car every day (But still love it
Sounds like a good idea...but the Toyota BGB's are pretty huge and I think would be expensive to copy...and I imagine your originals would be in quite bad shape after, perhaps they have to take the pages out to copy them properly (???), I don't know how they would make good copies otherwise. What price did you get on the originals by the way? I know they are damn expensive but fairly essential if you want to do some DIY.

Have you got the part numbers for the UK manuals?
Hi Chris, put me down for one aswell!
Paul, I dont think the manuals are bound in such a way they can't be unbound (I hope) and they are brand new.
Steve, I dont have them yet but when I do I'll let you know.
They are 150 quid a set from TGB.
(Or lots less from me)

My MR2 ones are in the same format as a paperback book, ie the spine and pages are glued together, to get a decent copy of the pages you will have to destroy the original but if you cater for that when pricing the copies up I'm sure you'll be able to buy a new set :)
I asked my two local dealers about getting a set - one of them refused and then admitted he'd said no because he presumed I wouldn't want to pay the price he'd quote, the second dealer could get them but couldn't understand why I'd want them - I pointed out that £150 on manuals is a few hours of labour charges and that if you do the jobs yourself they seem cheap! I would have been lost without my MR2 ones.
Thanks Michael, I'll get a proper printers to knock it up and do it all proffessional.
I love the avatar...fantastic!
I want one of those with the word rice off the scale!!

I'll have a copy, not sure a 'proper' printers will copy stuff that breaks copyright
Right Guys, its in.
I'm going to pick it up now and I'll look for a printers soon, (unless anyone knows one)
Put me down for a copy please - price depending but i'm sure it'll be fine :)
Cheers
Stephen
PS. When i questioned my local toyota dealer a few months ago about the manual they said there were 3 manuals:conf: any thoughts??
Right.. Update
Gets down garage, and guess what, they fucked up and they didb't have them and said they cant get em any more.
I get home, ring Toyota GB, have a pop at them, they tell me there is ONE copy of the chassis manual left but the engine one is kaput!
I have rather large arguement with them and main dealer, (dealer says no, toy GB say yes) so now i'm still waiting for an answer from dealer to see if he can obtain the only copy left from head office.
Hang in there guys!!

When you've stopped building up everyones hopes.....
I'll have a set Matey..................lol:p
What I find really scary is the prospect of Toyota mechanics working on cars without access to these manuals anymore!
not taking my toy there !! :conf:

Well considering i have just had to lend my manual to a Toyota dealer on behalf of another member and they still couldn't fix the problem i'd say that whether they have a manual or not won't make a lot of difference.
:conf:
You ARE kidding aren't you??:conf:
Right People...
The Chassis and Body Manual is here and its a whopper, its about the size of a London Yellow Pages and in the same format.
I have managed to get the very last one from Toyota GB and there are no more available anywhere, the one I have is Head Office's own copy (not brand new).
If I can find a printers that can copy the manual to either Paper or .pdf without damaging it then I will, if the only way to copy it is to wreck it then i'm not, as you will understand this is a very special book and i'm not willing to ruin it for a few quid.
If anyone knows how I can do this or has any suggestions, please let me know..
