JonW
Just started noticing a high pitched continuous squeal coming from my wheel area. I only hear it when moving and it stops when the brakes are applied. So I'm assuming it's brake related. Is this just that the pads need replacing?? Cheers Jon

Bobbeh
I've got something similar on my Civic, having it looked at Wednesday.. but why would the squeal go away if it was low brake pads, I thought the whole idea of having it squeal when you brake was to indicate your pad levels are low. I would have thought the same. I have no idea what the noise is but I do know that my pads are due for a change!!!
Sheefa
Mr Wilsons Fast Road pads squeal anyway as they're performance ones and create quite abit of brake dust. Mine are pretty much brand new and squeal, so it's not necessarily a sign of brake pad wear.
markjodrell
If its goes off when you brake its probably 1) worn discs 2)a bit of grit/dust that shoud eventually wear away 3) did you put anti squeal shims in whe the pads were last replaced. JonW
I don't have anti squeal shims.
Bobbeh
I'm currently guessing on same road salt in somewhere... again antisqueal shims should only come into play on braking.
NUTKIN
The noise coming from the wheel is the pads 100% there low an its set off the squealers an the reason its squeals when driving is the bit of metal that is designed to make the noise to warn u is touching the disc. The reason it goes away when u brake is its being forced on the disc not resting on it so it grinds on the disc not squeals.
