Just about to TAX the Supe for another year. And have noticed on the V11 it says my engine capacity is 3060 CC. I always thought it was 2997!

I know its not mega difference, but am hoping it doesnt mean I'm paying more than I need to on TAX.

Anyone know of the relation between engine capacity and how much tax you pay?

Am about to pay £175 for the year, is this what everyone else pays?

Yep you don't pay more for over 3ltr. Just 1.6 or 1.4 onwards I think

For cars registered pre-2001 (or made pre-2001 can't remember), the tax bands are £110 for below either 1.4 or 1.6 (my 1389cc corsa just cost me £110 so not sure which is the cut off), then £175 for everything above that.

Post-2001 cars have a right mess of tax brackets because it's dependent upon the carbon emissions of the car.

I'm looking forward to March - I discovered yesterday that the tax runs out on the 964 and the Supra at the same time. Bye bye £350 - and that's if the nice chancellor doesn't put the price up.

Dave, tax one for 6 months and the other for 12! It will "feel" cheaper!

You could always get 1 tax disc and swap it between the 2 cars, or use a colour printer to produce a copy and put the other cars reg on it. May not be legal but it would certainly make parking the car in public a wee bit more exciting!!;)

Sadly - I'm in a no win situation. I taxed the 964 for 6 months once before, because it had running out at the same time as the insurance and service were due. It's spread a bit better now - 964 insurance in September, Supra insurance in October, both taxes in March, 964 service in May, Supra MOT / service in March (and probably another minor service in October).

So I do get a few months bill free.....

It is 2997cc....with the standard sized pistons. If it's got 87mm pistons it's 3068cc

I think if you change it, the DVLA will record it as a change rather than an error. Could be tricky explaining it should you sell it.

I wouldn't bother personally :)
