Guest sfgtr
hi sorry to just jump in and start asking questions but... i have a mkiv uk supra auto which i am looking to use the engine out of to do a project car with , basicaly i would like to ask a few questions regarding gearbox's and wiring looms. 1. as i am finding it hard to locate a reasonably priced getrag box will the five speed mk3 box fit and handle 400-450bhp? 2. i think i'am right in saying that the auto loom/ecu will be no good and so a manual one for the manual box will be needed. and therefor will the six speed loom/ecu be ok for the five speed or vice versa, or not at all? i know the auto box is very capable of doing the job, but a manual is just personal preference. sorry for the first post questions but just really need to crack on with this now. thanks for any help in advance. simon. Chris Wilson
You would be pushing the 5 speed box well beyond its design limits unless it's going in a very light car, and even then it's far from ideal. You could mod an auto loom to use with a manual box, and vice versa, it's just fiddly.

Scooter
will the five speed mk3 box fit and handle 400-450bhp? afaik you need the bellhousing of a Mk3 2.5l tt or from a manual Soarer 2.5l tt.........both of which are quite rare i think.......
