im curious as to how wide is it safe to go on 19inch rear wheels with stock bodywork and what tyre width would best suit it? i know 10 inches is possible but wanted to see if 11 would be ok without the prioblems of the tyres rubbing

285x30 should be ok given the correct offset, but certainly no bigger than that without problems on 19's. I wouldn't go bigger than 275's personally. Certainly no need for an 11" wheel.

If you pick the offset very carefully, 295s and 11" wheels will fit.

Go to SF and ask a guy called Steve Jarvis (I think thats his name) for the right offsets to be able to do this.

As Syed says Qaisar, Steve on SF has a excel spreadsheet calculator to see if things will fit, you can download it off SF or I can email you it if you cant find it.

Apparently my new 20s should fit  :D

my 22`s should look mint, taking up to 2 months to come. hope i dont have to roll arches. 22x10 up front 22x12 on rear want to go for the propper fat look, hope handling aint too bad. they are nice silver chrome deep ass dish with gold chrome 5 spokes.
they are only going to be my show wheels. and 17`s or 16`s for track. and 19`s for everyday use.

dont think i will get them intime for JAE :(

Yeah on 18's maybe but I wouldn't have though 19's would as you'd need a 25 aspect tire or something.

Be careful as the style of wheel affects the brake clearance as well.

thanks for the info guys
i got the spreadsheet off SF
this is what i got as being ok from it
front 19x9 offset 50 tyre width 255-265 with aspect ratio 30
rear 19x11 offset 50 tyre width 285 with aspect ratio of 30
this is with no work being done to the body (ie rolling/cutting fenders etc) but im thinking the ride might be a bit too harsh
could do with some more input
by the way reason im after wider tyres is because i figure it will help with traction
