RedM
Is there any reason to choose to go single from a TT rather than from an NA? If identical parts were fitted would a TT have a performance advantage over the NA (or vice versa) and why? Any difference in driveability? Is it cheaper to buy an NA and go NA-T or cheaper to go single from a TT? Anything else you can think of?
JamieP
For one the gearbox is much stronger on the TT, im sure there is a few other reasons aswell, i have to say that them Na-t's are impressive though.
Wez
Without engine work I guess a TT lump could run alot more boost and therefore make more power.
DaveK
I just asked much the same in the NA-T thread. The cost of buying an NA and going NA-T seems a lot less than buying a TT and going single, at least from the figures I've seen.

That may be but I have an auto and would rather be manual for a big power single Supra. Ruling out an auto to manual conversion on financial grounds. Whitesupraboy2
One thing I do think is good about a NA-T is you have got the same 450BHP running through a shorter gear'd gearbox so you accelerate quicker. Maybe equivilant of a 500BHP TT of course you run out of top end quicker. (someone else can work out the power needed in a TT to accelerate as quick I cant be bothered.) JamieP
I dont know much about the auto's... is the TT auto different to the NA auto anyone?

Whitesupraboy2
I dont know much about the auto's... is the TT auto different to the NA auto anyone? Yes the difference is the number of clutch plates inside the gearbox.
RedM
FWIW, I'm thinking of selling the auto TT and getting a manual NA and then going NA-T with the change (depending on how much I get for the TT).
supradibbs
From conversations i have had with greg it would seem you can acheive alot more touque from a NA-T
jay_NW
I just had my N/A-T done apart from the gear box and the prop shaft, mechanically wise the N/A and the TT runs the same.
Kopite
The engines themselves are different as well though remember
Scooter
The engines themselves are different as well though remember true but they are cheap as chips if you lunch one.......... TT engine = £1000+ NA engine £65-£300.........

SupraStar 3000
I know in a perfect world the getrag box would be the way to go, but whats the deal with auto NA-Ts
Mike B
what about compression ratios - arn't the two engines built totally differently - one is built for na one for forced induction - they must be fundementally different...?
Kopite
Compression is different yep
mikeyb10supra
Compression is different yep bit of a major factor I would say This is why im put off by the idea
Lebsteif
bit of a major factor I would say This is why im put off by the idea Why would this be a major factor? put a stock TT headgasket instead of the very thin NA headgasket and your done. tooquicktostop
I will be going to Turbofit tommorrow for an auto to manual conversion as the auto box while superb just cant take the power the single set up is delivering, shame really as I am a lazy git
RedM
If I went single single I'd have to have a manual box. I'm not lazy though. I'm a driving god.
Jake
Why would this be a major factor? put a stock TT headgasket instead of the very thin NA headgasket and your done. It's not the head gasket that makes the compression ratio higher on a NA, they have different pistons. The NA engine also lacks the oil squirters which spray up under the pistons.
