merckx
My car has started making this noise We know! I would be concerned if it was the engine. It's always difficult to diagnose such a noise. Have you tried jacking it up , leaving the wheel on and spinning it/feeling for play?
silvershark44
I know but everyones ignoring me! By play in the wheel does that mean it shouldnt turn from side to side like a front wheel?
merckx
By play in the wheel does that mean it shouldnt turn from side to side like a front wheel? That's correct. I think the lack of response is just down to the fact that it's hard to diagnose over the internet without inspecting it yourself.

silvershark44
Right well ive just taken the car out again for a quick spin. And the noise has completely gone. From memory, when we changed the pads they were really badly worn on this side compared to the other. Think my caliper is sticking intermitantly Possible need a new one I think if it were the wheel bearing, or a knackard brake disk, it wouldnt be intermittant like that, and i would here it all the time. terribleturner
How odd. It's in the same place as well each time Jack the car and spin the wheel by hand.
Pete
Dude, you've now made two threads with people trying to diagnose the same problem suggesting the same things. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=100038 I noted you bumped the last thread after about 15mins of no one posting, it doesn't mean people are looking. Don't be so impatient!
rik
Actually, i've just remembered. I had a similar thing happen on my audi a couple off weeks back, really loud squeek at the front. On inspection it turned out to be a small part of the caliper shield had rusted off and wedged between that and the disc. Poked it out with screwdriver, job done.
